Facing Fear”
As we were listening to a message,”
The Landmine of fear” by Dr.Charles Stanley this morning, we were
moved to discuss this topic further and how we are dealing with fear in
our lives.
Since the beginning of time, man has been
plagued
with the emotion of fear, for it originated in the Garden of Eden. God
created Adam and Eve and they disobeyed their Creator and the emotion
of fear was known to their hearts. There are many kinds of fear and one
is healthy, which is To fear God.
From God’s Holy Written Word we
learn that
God is Love and that His perfect Love will cast out
All fear.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear
hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
As we go through our day-to-day living,
we have learned that when we are experiencing harmful emotions that seem
to paralyze us and prevent us from moving forward in our intended activities
for the day that is ahead of us,
God, by His Holy Spirit, leads us to the awareness
that there has been a break in our fellowship with Him
and that it is of the utmost importance that our fellowship
with Him be restored. As we pray to The Lord and trust that He is in control
He will help us to deal with whatever fear that comes way.
Fear is one of many flaming arrows that our spiritual
adversaries, the devil and his demons, will fire in our
direction. One significant piece of the Armour of God
is the Shield of Faith, which quenches all those flaming arrows.
To overcome Fear we must be walking in
the Light,
and be in God’s Word in order to have Victory over the lies
of the evil one. We once heard a preacher say; Most
fears are; “false evidence appearing real”. When you
really think upon that statement there is a lot of Truth
in it. When we Believe that God is in ultimate control
of our lives, and trust that as we seek to be in His
specific will, for each of our lives, that God will Bless
us with the Grace that we need, as we face the various
spiritual attacks. When we believe that God has the
power to calm the storms in our hearts, we will experience
His Peace and have Victory.
37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship,
so that it was now full.
38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they
awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be
still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have
no faith?
41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of
man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him. Mark Chapter 4.
