“Christmas at Grandma’s”
Christmas memories flood
my mind.
I remember Grandma’s smile,so kind.
Thinking of the years long ago,
and evergreen branches covered with snow.
Her home was filled with warmth and love.
She would direct our hearts to God above.
Grandma would be there to greet us all,
and with a sweet aroma filling the hall.
There was turkey in the oven and home made pie.
She would hug us with a twinkle in her eye.
When I think back of what she would say,
“So Very Glad you could come on Christmas Day!”
With our coats hung up
and our boots in a row,
as we entered in Grandma’s Face was aglow.
As a child,I would hurry to the Christmas tree
to see if there was a gift, from Grandma, waiting for me.
I would see my name on a beautifully wrapped gift.
Oh what Joy! It gave my little heart such a lift.
Beneath the beauty of
the Christmas tree.
My eyes were soon drawn to the nativity.
The Baby I would look upon with such Joy.
“Oh look Grandma,a little Baby Boy!”
“Jesus is His Name my child.
He came to the world so meek and mild.”
In Grandma’s living room we would gather to sing.
Christmas carols to the New Born King.
Silent Night was Grandma’s Favorite song.
We would all join in and sing along.
You could hear her voice so rich and deep.
A cherrished memory I will forever keep.
Through the years people
would come and go.
New faces around the tree as the family would grow.
Some no longer with us in our sorrow we would say,
“They’re in heaven singing with the angels on Christmas Day.”
What comfort this would bring to our hearts.
Knowing God’s Promises to us He imparts.
We don’t meet at Grandma’s house anymore.
She now, with Jesus, waits for us at Heaven’s Door.
What hope we have of seeing her someday.
That twinkle in her eye ,I think of, as I pray.
Thank You Jesus for coming to this earth.
To save me from my sin and giving me new birth.
